Fly from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar (about 1 hour). Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit historic monasteries such as Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Mariam. Learn about centuries-old manuscripts and vibrant church paintings.
After breakfast, drive 35 KM to the Blue Nile Falls, known as 'Tis Issat' or 'The Smoking Water'. Enjoy a short hike to admire the stunning waterfalls. Return to Bahir Dar for lunch, then enjoy a city tour including the local market and palace view of Lake Tana.
